In 1985, a group of three business leaders founded the Black Excellence Awards ceremony. They were later joined by Lynda Jackson Conyers, the coordinator of the event. With unwavering tenacity and vision, these individuals saw the good deeds of people and wanted to create a platform to praise living unsung heroes and heroines. Today—38 years later—their vision of saluting Black Excellence continues to unfold and blossom, as is demonstrated by a sellout crowd each year.
